It has been a long 12 months for all those resident in the beautiful environs of the Garden City, Christchurch, post-the September 4, 2010, earthquake that started it all.

Even now as the Rugby World Cup is about to start in New Zealand, Christchurch again feels the wound of an historic loss.

In light of the times and seasons, local recording artist, Scribe, has made a remake of his 2003 hit, “Not Many,” celebrating “the strength, the courage, the pride and the incredible spirit of the people of Christchurch.” Read the rest of this entry »

Friday July 15th, 2011 10:36 Timeless Tom Watson Holes in One!

This very day at the Open Championship, the sun is shining and the wind is complacent – at the minute.

While that could be classed as extraordinary, it would be the events at the 6th hole of Royal St George’s, where a legend of the game, Tom Watson, would prove timeless!

Watson is 61 years young, but would not be the oldest to have “aced” in Open history.  Gene Sarazen was 71 when he aced the famous Postage Stamp at Troon in 1973. Read the rest of this entry »

What a weekend of fun – or not so much if you’re a fan of two teams – but for the other two teams it was the weekend that was won. Now we are down to a Final fling, as the Crusade embarks on another rugby journey, returning to the ground that was front-in-centre in their thinking, post that final whistle in the round robin, versus the Reds.  The Crusaders now have their chance finish the fairies and end this tale with a happy ending. As a young boy with a sporting passion, Seve was the man on the Golfing courses of the world, and particularly around the Greens, capturing my attention with the verve of his personality and game!

He could certainly putt for dough.

His passion and skill commandeered for attention!

In very sad news this day, the family has informed the world that his neurological condition has suffered a severe deterioration, with Severiano Ballesteros passing on.
